"AD Training Retreats was by far one of the best professional development experiences I've had. Jan and Colleen provided a comfortable, family-style retreat that not only gave attendees information about audio description, but also provided interactive training. I left the retreat feeling I gained knowledge and experience in audio description services. I am looking forward to the level 2 training!"

"The training retreat was a perfect blend of teaching, hands on practice, and collaboration. Pairing an instructor who provides Audio Description with an instructor who uses Audio Description made for a dynamic experience with multiple perspectives. I highly recommend this training to anyone interested in making media and performance more accessible."

"The Auditory Description Retreat I attended at Lake Norman, NC, was exceptional. The accommodations were perfect for this learning experience with plenty of group space available for training and meals, as well as numerous places for leisure activities and privacy. The meals prepared by Chef Spyro were all so delicious and healthy.

As co-facilitators, Colleen and Jan created and maintained a supportive environment for both the training and practice of auditory description skills. The instruction was well paced and respectful of individual learning styles. Their positive energy translated into a well focused, rewarding and very powerful four days. The fact that every member of our group unanimously and enthusiastically requested to be included in the Level II training retreat definitely says it all. Thanks to Jan, Spyro and Colleen for a most memorable and life changing experience."

"For all who are interested in the Level 1 training, know that this course is introductory. The training is fast paced. Jan and Colleen (and Spyro, the chef) lead a well designed, individualized instruction-led training that provides a basic understanding of aspects that are necessary to become a great Audio Describer. If you're looking for exposure to the field and want to learn more, this is a good place to start."

"The Audio Description Training Retreat (level 1) was amazing! It was literally everything I was looking for to jump into the world of Audio Description. The best part was how hands on the training was. Jan and Colleen provided lots of great background information and examples, but we also spent hours practicing the description and getting feedback right there on the spot. I left there confident I could do this! The retreat format was perfect, allowing us to focus on learning this new craft, but also providing time to recharge and get ready for the next lesson. And the food was delish! I can't wait for the next level."
